Football News > Weekend Football Boots Spotting 12/04/10

It's the SoccerBible's weekly fix of essential Boot Spotting, after another busy weekend of domestic football around the World.

Our extensive network of boot spotters had some great spots from all over the world, including the MLS, Premier League and FA Cup.

David James (Portsmouth)
Umbro Stealth

Anton Ferdinand (Sunderland)
Nike CTR360 Maestri

After signing up as an Umbro player, David James has opted to wear the Umbro Stealth football boots and is sporting a unique colourway not seen before. James was part of a Portsmouth side that pulled off an astonishing victory over Tottenham at Wembley.

In our boot spotting last week, we showed you Anton Ferdinand's customised CTR's matching the Sunderland home strip. But this weekend, Anton showed off another custom pair of Nike CTR360 Maestri boots, which matched the Sunderland away kit.

Xavi (Barcelona)
adidas Predator PS

James Collins (Aston Villa)
Nike CTR360 Maestri

Xavi orchestrated a crucial Barcelona victory over Real Madrid at the Bernabeu. Xavi controlled the play in midfield, and picked out both Lionel Messi and Pedro with clinical passes, to secure a 2-0 victory.

Collins wore the Team Red Nike CTR360 football boots for the first time, during Aston Villa's 3-0 defeat to Chelsea in the FA Cup semi-final. As you can see from our picture, Chelsea goalscorer Florent Malouda also chose to wear the latest CTR360 colourway.

Alberto Aquilani (Liverpool)
Nike Tiempo Legend III

Cris (Lyon)
Mizuno Wave Ignitus

It was widely acknowledged that Alberto Aquilani was Liverpool's man of the match, orchestrating Liverpool's best chances. So surely nobody should have been surprised when Benitez chose to substitute the Italian, who as having a great game in Legend III football boots.

The Wave Ignitus is one of the newest and most innovative football boots on the market, and we are seeing an increasing number of players switching into them. Lyon defender Cris is the latest player we've spotted wearing these eye-catching football boots, along with his team-mate Fernando Cavenaghi.

Dejan Jokavic (DC United)
Uhlsport Kikkschuh

Danny Murphy (Fulham)
Nike Superfly I

One of the most interesting boot spots off the weekend came from the MLS game between DC United and Philadelphia Union. DC defender Jokavic was spotted wearing the Uhlsport Kikkschuh football boots, a unique boot that rarely gets publicity.

This season we have seen Danny Murphy wearing a variety of football boots, from Under Armour Dominates to Nike AZT90 III's! But more recently Murphy has worn the Superfly I football boots, which he wore on his return to Anfield, in the great looking white/black/pink flash colourway.

Frederic Piquionne (Portsmouth)
adidas F50i

Leonardo (LA Galaxy)
Nike Vapor IV

Piquionne wore the Scarlet Red adidas F50i football boots for the first time, and the boots not only looked great with the Portsmouth kit, but provided Piquionne with a crucial goal in extra-time of the FA Cup semi-final for Portsmouth.

The Marina/Volt Nike Vapor IV football boots were a very popular colourway, and despite the release of both the Vapor V and Vapor VI, Leonardo is proving the Vapor IV is still a top-end performance football boot.

I think Ferdinand's boots should be a colourway that Nike should produce.  Those colors work well together but maybe its too close to the white/black/yellow existing boot.
