The New Year began with one of the biggest competitions in world football - the FA Cup. Which meant our boot spotters were out in force to catch the best of the Third Round action, which produced some shock results and show-pieced a whole host of new and some great old football boots...

JERMAINE BECKFORD
Nike Mercurial Superfly football boots
Beckford was responsible for the shock of the round, as League One side Leeds United travelled to eleven-times FA Cup winners Manchester United. Beckford burst through at pace, wearing Nike Superfly football boots, and shot low to score the only goal of the game.

HENRI LANSBURY
adidas Predator X DB football boots
The impressive young Lansbury is on loan from Arsenal, and we're not sure if David Beckham is his idol or he just likes the style - but it wasn't the first time Lansbury has taken to the field wearing adidas Predator X DB football boots.

ROBERT EARNSHAW
Nike Vapor II football boots
A bright and bold boot choice from Robert Earnshaw, who joins a growing list of players continuing to wear their old Vapor football boots. Earnshaw was playing in the Vapor II football boots, which were originally released back in 2004.

KEVIN PHILLIPS
Umbro Speciali football boots
So far this season we've seen Kevin Phillips wear Under Armour Dominate and Puma v-Konstrukt football boots. Clearly Phillips is not a contracted player, and the latest boots he has taken a liking to are the Umbro Speciali football boots, a popular choice in the Premier League.

FERNANDO TORRES
Nike T90 Laser II football boots
Despite being a marquee player for Nike, Fernando Torres has reverted to his old T90 Laser II football boots. Footballers can be a superstitious breed so perhaps Torres is unwilling to give up his beloved pair of Lasers, and there is no denying the colourway better matches his Liverpool kit!

GRAHAM KAVANAGH
adidas Predator Absolute football boots
Graham Kavanagh is a Premier League veteran, who now plays his football in League One with Carlisle. So the FA Cup match against Everton gave Kavanagh the chance to turn back time, which he did so by wearing an old pair of Predator Absolute football boots.
JOBI MCANUFF
Nike Ronaldinho 10R Dois football boots
We're not sure if Jobi McAnuff has modelled his game on Ronaldinho, but there is no doubting he was a skillful thorn in Liverpool's side outmaneuvering his opponents down the right wing. McAnuff was playing in the Nike Ronaldinho 10R Dois football boots, which have a shortened lacing system for better ball control.

DANIEL STURRIDGE
adidas Predator X football boots
With the departure of Didier Drogba to the African Cup of Nations, Daniel Sturridge has a great opportunity to show his ability in the Chelsea side. And he didn't do too badly against Watford scoring two goals in a five-goal rout. Sturridge has previously worn all-red Predator PowerSwerves, and this was one of his first outings in the Predator X football boots.
EDUARDO
Nike Vapor III football boots
Yet another player we've discovered who just won't give up his Vapor III football boots is Eduardo. Over the past 12 months Eduardo has worn various Vapor IV and Vapor V football boots, but he always seems to come back to his Vapor III's!

NEIL KILKENNY
adidas F50 football boots
It seems that despite brand new football boots coming out all the time, if a player finds a boot that is comfortable and performs for that individual then they will stick with them. And Neil Kilkenny is another example of this as he played at Old Trafford for Leeds United wearing adidas F50.7 football boots.
HENRI CAMARA
Nike Vapor V football boots
Many people have questioned how they can wear Nike RED laces with Vapor V football boots, well now it seems Henri Camara has found a solution! The Senegalese striker was so keen to show his support for the campaign, that he removed the lace cover of his Vapor V football boots for Sheffield United against QPR.

MATT MILLS
Nike AZT90 IV Supremacy football boots
It appears Fernando Torres wasn't the only player opting to wear an old Total 90 boot in this game, as Reading's Matt Mills wore the fourth generation Air Zoom football boots against Liverpool. The strong defender was less concerned about power and accuracy, and more concerned with a strong performance boot to win the ball.
