> Football Boots - Champions League Boot Spotting - 05/11/09

There was a real variety of football boots on show during this weeks Champions League action, with a mixture of old and new boots performing well, and a host of colourways and customised boots on display. To catch the best of the action our SoccerBible boot spotters were out in force right across Europe...

SAMIR NASRI
adidas F50i football boots
Nasri has returned from injury and slipped straight into the Arsenal side, linking up with the smooth passing and quick one-touch passing which is so good on the eye. Samir Nasri took his goal very well, breaking free from the AZ defence to slot the ball home. Nasri was wearing adidas F50i football boots, and from our image it looks as though the French star has removed the lace cover.

MARIO BALOTELLI
Nike CTR360 Maestri football boots
Balotelli is one of the few players we have found wearing the black/white/del sol CTR360 colourway. The Inter Milan forward is on a bit of a hot streak at the moment, but then so is Cesc Fabregas and Sergio Aguero, so could this be attributed to wearing the Nike CTR360 football boots?

ALEXANDER HLEB
Puma v1.10 football boots
Whilst the Puma v1.08 football boots were available Alexander Hleb continued to wear his v1.06 boots. Which means he must be impressed with the new v1.10 football boots that he has been playing in recently. Although Hleb has custmised his pair, as it looks as though he has removed the lace cover!

LISANDRO LOPEZ
Nike Tiempo Legend III football boots
Lopez broke Liverpool hearts with a late goal, that ensures Lyon progress to the knockout stage and leaves Liverpool's future out of their hands. Lisando Lopez covered a lot of ground as he first played down the left ad then through the centre, but he remained sharp up until the 90th minute wearing Nike Legend III football boots. Interestingly Lopez was playing in a blacked out edition of the Legend III's.

DARIO DAINELLI
Bikkemburg football boots
We love a unique boot choice at the SoccerBible, and Dainelli's Bikkemberg football boots are certainly that. We've previously seen Ludovic Giuly and Giorgio Chiellini wearing this distinctive brand, which has quite a striking design! It was a good performance from defender Dario Dainelli, who also managed to get on the scoresheet in a 5-2 Fiorentina victory.

DANIEL ALVES
Nike Superfly football boots
Alves is one of the fastest and most attacking full-backs in the game, which is perhaps why he wears the innovative Nike Superfly football boots. Daniel Alves has previously been wearing the orion blue colourway, but in recent games he has reverted to the platinum Superfly's. Unfortunately Alves was unable to help his Barca side beat Russian minnows Rubin Kazan, who had previously beaten the Catalan giants at the Camp Nou!

SERGIO AGUERO
Nike CTR360 Maestri football boots
Aguero is another CTR360 convert, and after his performance against Chelsea we can see why. Sergio Aguero has previously worn Nike Legend football boots, but after two terrific goals last night, including a wonder strike, he is clearly enjoying the performance benefits the CTR's offer.

MICHAEL OWEN
Umbro Speciali football boots
We are becoming increasingly impressed with the Umbro Speciali this year, as we have seen great performances from Darren Bent, Deco and now Michael Owen. If you question Michael Owen about playing regular football, his response will be that all he can do is score when given his chance, and that's exactly what Owen did lastnight!

RONALDINHO
Nike Ronaldinho Dois football boots
"Form is temporary, class is permanent" - surely this phrase has to apply to Ronaldinho, as the Brazilian wonder player seems to be enjoying his football again. Ronaldinho was at one time the best player in the world, which earned him his own range of Nike football boots, and he seems to have found his form again, which was underlined by his penalty goal against Real Madrid.

EDIN DZEKO
adidas F50.9 football boots
One of the most interesting boot spots of the evening was Edin Dzeko, who played and scored for Wolfsburg wearing the adidas F50.9 football boots. Opting not to wear the new F50i football boots, Dzeko's boot choice was even more interesting as his boots were a white-out pair of F50.9's

HULK
Mizuno Morelia football boots
Hulk is an appropriate name for a player of his stature, strong, powerful and pacey, and we like his boot choice. There is a wide variety of football boots on the market, with a host of innovative technologies, but Hulk prefers a comfortable and soft kangaroo leather football boot. Hulk was playing for Porto as they earnt an away victory against Apoel Nicosia.

HILTON
adidas Predator X football boots
Marseille absolutely romped FC Zurich 6-1 at home, and we could have taken our pick from six different goal scorers. But we've chosen Hilton as he was solid in defence and managed to score a rare goal, in an all round good performance from the player wearing the new Predator X football boots.
MAROUANE CHAMAKH
Nike Superfly football boots
The shock result of the evening was Bayern Munich losing at the fortress that is the Allianz Arena. Few would have predicted victory for Bordeaux over the German giants, but it was a victory sealed by Marouane Chamakh, as he scored in the 90th minute wearing Nike Vapor Superfly football boots, and interestingly Chamakh was wearing a soft ground sole-plate.
