Football News > Football News - Premier League Boot Spotting! - 21/09/09

Our intrepid SoccerBible boot spotters go out every weekend to scour the Premier League. And what they find is a mixture of star performances, new football boots, players changing their boots and any football boots that have intrigued them. So, here are our boot spotters selections this week, and as always, if there are any they've missed we'd love to hear about them...

MICHAEL OWEN

Umbro Speciali football boots

Owen scored probably the most important, and most controversial goal of the weekend. It was a typical finish from the goalscorer, who was wearing the new Umbro Speciali's which have a soft and comfortable upper for controlling the ball and steering it into the back of the City net.

THOMAS VERMAELEN

adidas Predator Rome football boots

Defender Vermaelen learned his trade in Holland, which is probably why he is so confident on the ball. Vermaelen's second goal was a great run from the back, and his shot was a perfect demonstration of power and swerve from his Predator football boots, which interestingly had the lace cover removed.

ALESSANDRO DIAMANTI

Diadora Brasil Italy football boots

West Ham look like they've signed another cult hero with Diamanti already making his presence known at the club. The Italian forward has demanded to take all the set-pieces, and was on strike as he scored from the penalty spot. Diamanti was wearing a blacked out pair of Diadora Brasil Italy football boots, as he stays true to an Italian brand.

JERMAINE JENAS

Nike Tiempo Legend III football boots

Jermaine Jenas surprised us by wearing the Nike Legend III football boots against Chelsea. Jenas has previously worn the Nike Vapor football boots this season, so maybe the midfielder is going for a change of style, as the Legend football boots are ideal for ball control and distribution.

DANNY MURPHY

Under Armour Dominate football boots

Danny Murphy was on target for Fulham from the penalty spot wearing Under Armour football boots. Murphy is just one of a number of Premier League players who have changed into the Under Armour Dominate football boots, which combine a soft leather with an effective synthetic toe.

FERNANDO TORRES

Nike T90 Laser II football boots

Torres may not have been on fire from the start of the season, but a striker of his quality will always come good. His first goal showed great ball control to turn the West Ham defence inside-out, before poking the ball home off his ShotShield, accurately guiding the ball between the keeper and post.

DAVID NUGENT

adidas Predator CL football boots

It's amazing what a change of clubs and a change of boots can do for a player. Nugent has decided to wear adidas Predator football boots after previously wearing SX Valor, and after heading a first goal he was full of confidence to give the weekend's second demonstration of power and swerve from his Predator football boots, curling the ball into the far corner.

Of course, let us know if there are any football boots our boot spotters have missed...

Torres doesn't wear black boots, he only likes to wear "warm" coloured boots. According to his boots, think that's why he always wears older colour ways because he prefers a white base colour
