Football News > Football Boots - Weekend Head to Heads - The Winners!

Here are the winners from the weekend's European head-to-heads. At the SoccerBible we picked our key head-to-head battles, and now we know the players who came out on top...

Carrick (Manchester United) v Van Persie (Arsenal) Winner:

MICHAEL CARRICK

Puma King XL football boots

Carrick was calm in possession wearing Puma King football boots, despite a hectic game going on around the midfielder. And it was composure and a healthy dose of luck that helped United to a crucial victory over key rivals Arsenal. Although, this head-to-head could have ended differently if Van Persie's goal hadn't been disallowed!

Dzeko (Wolfsburg) v Olic (Bayern Munich) Winner:

IVICA OLIC

Olic wasn't the star of the show, as that accolade went to another adidas boots wearer Arjen Robben, who scored twice on his debut in a 3-0 victory! But it was a solid performance from the forward player, wearing adidas adiPure II football boots. Unfortunately for Wolfsburg, it was a poor day at the office for Olic's head-to-head rival Dzeko, who spurned a host of chances for the visiting side.

Ronaldo (Real Madrid) v Felipe (Deportivo) Winner:

CRISTIANO RONALDO

Nike Mercurial Superfly football boots

Scoring on your league debut, and being on the winning side is always going to give you the edge in a head-to-head, so did Felipe ever stand a chance against the world's most expensive player? Ronaldo scored Real Madrid's second goal from the penalty spot in a 3-2 home victory over Deportivo, and wearing the Nike Superfly football boots Ronaldo kept the Deportivo keeper busy as he rained in shots.

Pato (AC Milan) v Eto'o (Inter) Winner:

SAMUEL ETO'O

Puma v1.08 football boots

An emphatic victory for Inter Milan, as they destroyed city rivals AC 4-0! Amazingly Samuel Eto'o wasn't on the scoresheet, although he was busy distracting the Milan defence for his colleagues to capitalise. And Eto'o, playing in gold Puma v1.08 football boots, also drew the foul in the area which led to Diego Milito scoring form the penalty spot.

It's a monumental weekend for football with top clashes all over Europe! Here at the SoccerBible we share our best picks of the upcoming weekend head-to-heads, with matches from the English Premier League, Serie A, Bundesliga and the return of La Liga! Which players and which football boots do you think will come out on top?

Saturday 29th August
17:30 GMT - Manchester United v Arsenal
Always one of the biggest matches in the English calendar, Arsenal's trip to Old Trafford sees the Gunners looking to continue their impressive form and prove their pre-season critics wrong once again. United have bounced back at the right time with a 5-0 thumping of Wigan in their last league outing after the set back of defeat to Burnley. Let's hope this one lives up to the hype!

MICHAEL CARRICK

Puma King XL football boots

An important match for all concerned, and the United midfielder will be looking to cement his position in the starting XI with a solid and influential performance against the Gunners.Wearing the Puma King XL football boots, Carrick should take heart in the news that Fabregas looks set to miss this clash, but will he be able to make the most of his opponents absence?

ROBIN VAN PERSIE

adidas Predator PowerSwerve football boots

The Gunners are scoring freely at the moment, and the fan favourite is always an attacking threat up front or out wide. Van Persie has been wearing both the new CL Star adidas Predators as well as the Confeds editions, either of which help him pack a power shot in or find the top corner with a curled free-kick

Saturday 29th August 17:30 GMT - Bayern Munich vs Wolfsburg
It's the top match of the weekend in Germany as record championship-holders Bayern München host current Bundesliga champions VfL Wolfsburg in the Allianz Arena. After the worst start in the Bundesliga for 43 years, FC Bayern look set to strengthen their squad with the surprise new signing Arjen Robben, and there is even the chance he will appear against VfL Wolfsburg.

EDIN DZEKO

adidas F50i football boots

Wolves' Bosnian striker was influential in the capture of last season's Bundesliga, and has continued his good form into the new season. Wearing adidas F50 football boots, Dzeko will be looking to last season's epic 5-1 win over Bayern for inspiration as the reigning Champions make the tough trip to the Allianz Arena.

IVICA OLIC

adidas adiPure II football boots

Attempting to avoid a repeat of last season will be relative new Bayern striker Olic, who will look to bring his impressive games to goals ratio to the Bayern title challenge this season. Colour-matching his adidas adiPure II football boots, Olic will be out to make a good impression ahead of the next round of international qualifiers.

Saturday 29th August 19:00 GMT - Real Madrid vs Deportivo La Coruna
La Liga returns in earnest this weekend, and after a summer grabbing the back page headlines the talking can now be replaced by the football! With Barcelona competing in the Super Cup, the obvious match up comes from the Santiago Bernebeau as Real Madrid's all new Galacticos host Deportivo La Coruna...

CRISTIANO RONALDO

Nike Mercurial Superfly football boots

We had some many new Madridistas to choose from but for his official La Liga debut it could be no one else but Cristiano Ronaldo. Continuing to sport the Nike Mercurial Superfly football boots, all world's eyes will be focused on the Bernebeau as the next chapter in Madrid's illustrious story begins...

FILIPE LUIS

Nike Mercurial Vapor football boots

After being pursued by Barcelona for much of the summer, left-back Filipe Luis remains at Deportivo for another season. The Brazilian, wearing Nike Mercurial Vapor football boots, will be keen to show that the hype is not unfounded and he should sneak forward to test Casillas with a blistering shot or two...

Saturday 29th August 19:45 GMT - AC Milan vs Inter Milan
Another huge match up in the San Siro, as reigning Champions Inter "visit" city rivals AC in only the second week of the Scudetto. It's still been a busy week for the Nerazzurri as Wesley Sneijder now on board, so can Inter continue their recent dominance?

ALEXANDRE PATO

Nike Tiempo Legend football boots

There is still much speculation and debate around the young Brazilian's new choice of footwear, after his switch from the Nike Mercurial series. After an excellent double strike last time out, Pato, wearing the latest Nike Tiempo football boots, will surely be looking to inflict a derby defeat on his city, stadium and title rivals.

SAMUEL ETO'O

Puma v1.08 football boots

Having made the switch from La Liga to Serie A, Eto'o got off the mark with a strike in last week's 1-1 draw. Still sporting the limited edition gold/black Puma v1.08 football boots, Eto'o is already a serious contender for this season's Serie A Golden Boot accolade...
