Football News > Champions League Final - As it happened... - 28/05/09

There's not a lot you can say, other than Barcelona were absolutely awesome! Beating Manchester United in lastnight's Champions League final, Barcelona were dominant in possession. So here's the night as it happened, including the star players and the football boots they were playing in...

Barcelona, Manchester United and neutral fans cannot deny that lastnight was a footballing spectacle, with the best footballers in the world descending onto the Rome pitch.

From kick-off Manchester United started the stronger side, with Cristiano Ronaldo a particular threat. We'd heard rumours that Ronaldo could have worn a new colourway, but instead he stuck with his max orange Nike Mercurial Vapor Superfly football boots. Within the first five minutes Ronaldo had already tested the goalkeeper, an it looked inevitable United would take the lead...

But from Barcelona's first attack Andres Iniesta was allowed to run through the United midfield and find Samuel Eto'o. Playing in his new gold colourway Puma v1.08 football boots, Eto'o showed a turn of pace, and with quick feet beat Nemanja Vidic and scored the opening goal against the run of play...

From this moment on Barcelona dominated play, with Andres Iniesta wearing Nike T90 Laser II football boots and Xavi in the Rome adidas Predator football boots dictating play. With a seemingly telepathic understanding the two midfielders were playing great one touch football, and United could barely get close...

Then with 20 minutes remaining Barcelona clinched a decisive second goal, a headed winner from the smallest player on the pitch - Lionel Messi! The creative midfielder was playing in a brand new pair of custom made adidas F30i football boots, part of the new adidas F50i TUNiT football boots range. At his inspirational best throughout the evening, Lionel Messi was clearly delighted with his boots performance...

why do pro's wear F30s or F10s rather than F50s? if the pro's don't like lace covers adidas shouldn't make the boots with lace covers. those F30i's didnt look dat gr8 on messi tbh but F30s r bigger than F50s so they'll look better in F50s.
