In 1994 football was revolutionised by an Australian and his invention the Predator football boot, produced by adidas. Now 2008 another Australian once again threatens to revolutionise football with the Concave football boots.
Mike Petersen and the Theoklitos brothers are on the verge of releasing the Concave football boots to the world, which has been eight years in the making. The football boots' name hints at the technology being implemented. The concave shape provides a bigger surface area coming into contact with the ball, resulting in a larger 'sweet spot' when the ball is struck.
The round ball coming into contact with the concave and curved shape increases accuracy, this deepening of the curved surface area provides more friction during contact with the ball which increases control. The flexibility of the material produces a bounce and the textured surface increases power.
Michael Theoklitos the official tester and wearer for the last two years told the Australian media that, “I swear by them. They look different, but they work. It's really exciting. We're all pumped up. It's massive and hopefully it pays off.” The design means better power, distance and accuracy, which is further backed by Celtic and Liverpool legend Kenny Dalglish becoming the face of the product.
