Football Shirts > Manchester City Home Shirt 2011-2012 - Umbro Football Shirt

Manchester City are on a fast-track to becoming one of the biggest clubs in world football. With a newly found global following and a multi-national star-studded line up, some will argue that the blue side of Manchester is losing touch with its roots – think again!

Umbro have teamed up with one of the world's most famous Mancunians, Liam Gallagher, in a truly unique kit launch that celebrates what has always made Manchester famous – football and music. The Beady Eye front-man has helped record the bands very own version of 'Blue Moon' - the club anthem of Manchester City with lyrics that have become etched into so Many City fans.

How do you incorporate the passion of the fans into a shirt? 'Blue Moon' was Umbro's answer to this. The unique design celebrates the special relationship between Manchester City supporters and players. The new home shirt features a special sound-wave graphic subtly embedded on the chest, which is based on a recording of the club's fans singing their anthem 'Blue Moon' – clever right?

Speaking about the new Manchester City 11/12 Umbro Home Shirt, Liam Gallagher said: ''I've been a City fan since I was a kid so to be involved with the launch of a new kit is colossal. Manchester City fans are known for having a lot of style and the new shirt looks mega.''

Tailored by Umbro, the new 11/12 Manchester City home shirt has been designed to meet the demands of players and fans alike. The new design features a classic v-neck collar, with a checker-board flat knit rib collar stand. On the main body of the shirt, white stretch panels feature on the underarm, sides and shoulders to offer increased movement and breathability.

An exciting new design for an exciting new era at Manchester City, the 2011 Umbro home shirt will lead the clubs fans and players into the new season – and what better way to kick it off than a Wembley date with Manchester United in the FA Community Shield on August 7!

The sound-wave design recognises the true heartbeat of the club – the fans. After years of supporting a team living in the shadows of Manchester United, the blue half of Manchester are making their voices heard – so much so that they've made their way onto the shirt!

Available to pre-order from today, the new 11/12 Manchester City shirt will retail for £45 / $70 / $50. Let us know what you think of the new Umbro Manchester City Jersey. Share your thoughts online, on Twitter and on Facebook.

I was not making fun of YOU.  I was "stating my opinion" (sound familiar) about how the new United kits look lame because you and "stretchnutski10" up there were talking junk on City -on a City post no less!

You know this kit looks great, you just hate it because you're a United fan -but  I am ok with that.  It shows the fear and respect  that you have deep down for City this upcoming season (far too long have the Whiskey Nosed Pr^^k and  Prince Shrek reigned in Manchester).

The new United jersey is the equivalent of a pee wee soccer team jersey that your mom got for you when she signed you up for the Fall soccer season. . .This on the other hand, is a unique and classy jersey that Umbro put some real forethought in to.  The fans are incorporated, style is incorporated and they got Liam 'effin' Gallagher and Beady Eye to do a City themed video to debut the jersey!  That's effin' top in my book man . . .

Do you see all the letters bunched together around the pictures?  They're called words.  And words make sentences.  And if can you read the sentences well enough, you will understand what the dots represent to answer your highly intelligent question of: "wtf?"

Why do all Devil's fans struggle with reading and writing the English language?   I mean, it's really quite sad.  I can understand if you're from another country where English is not the primary language, but most of you up here commenting are usually from the US or England.  Oh well, I guess shouldn't expect much.

Unfortunately my comments were not Christ like, and as much as I would love to be like him, I fall short over and over again :( I guess it's me being judgmental against Liam who I believe slammed Kaka a few years back over not coming to man city. I just thought he took it too far for someone who didn't want to come to his club, which is the case most of the time, people have preferences and there heart set on certain clubs. As far as the shirt, I think the sound wave idea is killer and I think very innovative on shirts that sometimes suffer from the same things over and over. And as far as Alex Morgan being your girlfriend, whether true or not, I applaud you. Though I do find Hope Solo cute, I also think there are much cuter girls on the team, including Alex Morgan. Holla!

@Waldrinho, While Manchester United are still in the Premier League, City will never win the league. All they have are a bunch of selfish money-driven players that can't play with eachother and as you may re-call, fight with eachother. Once that gets sorted then maybe, just maybe you might be able for third. Man Utd players never fight and that's why they win. They are driven by the football and are passionate about the club. Also I am from Ireland, my primary language is English and i know how to read thank you very much. Oh and one more thing since you seem to have some problem with internet abriviations, STFU and GTFO

Waldrinho said:

Wow, what a first.  Thanks Shrek!  Your opinions were well-written, but the originality...  Well, let's just say it's short of the username.  I liked ya better when you played for Everton and were scoring trannies!

Oh, and "FYI" every player is money driven and all teammates fight.  And if you think different than you are still a child, a teen or a misled adult living in a football dreamworld where United is somehow exempt from living with the trials and tribulations that all professional athletes face.  City are finally starting to do what ManU (and every successful club with money) have done forever.

Anyway, I personally I prefer EPTYMFJB, but that's just me.  So where in Ireland are you from?  They say that if it wasn't for whiskey, the Irish would have taken over the world. . . Well that and England of course.  But anyway, I personally am a fan of County Mayo.  Are you a St. Patrick's fan or maybe a smaller club like Gallway?

@Willyohyo

Cheers man!  But I defend the Sky Blues and the Gallagher Bros. to the grave.

Devils fans are turning into a bunch of cry babies on here.  Get ready to cry some more this season because your boy is on Wesley Sneijder ain't no saving grace. . .

rooney_10_MUFC said:

insulting a player because of his looks. wow how original! so Javier Hernandez is driven by money is he. No he is not, unlike Carlos Tevez, Yaya Toure, david silva and ballotelli. United are unique because their team have been together for such a long period of time and are all great mates. fact. Me? i am from Dublin and please don't mock my nationallity I didn't mock yours. I am Irish and very proud. I am a Bray Wanderers fan. And Sneijder will be a HUGE success at united, just wait!

July 17, 2011 12:54 AM

Waldrinho said:

Not mocking your nationality -don't even go there because I don't care.

Javier is locked in that small contract because he had to prove himself.  Do you think now that he has produced that he will not want more money (he would have stayed at Chivas if he cared about team)?  It won't matter if it's United or Real -He'll go where the money is.  United will move him (for a ton of money) or pay him for what he is worth at the end of his contract.  The same way they did with Ronaldo and countless others (your boy Becks for instance).  It's the same way that all big clubs work.  Those with the money rule the football world -it's not by chance!  I don't know what you're trying to argue?  It's a business and every grown adult knows this.

And of course they're great mates!   United have always payed for the best players that they can possibly get and teams that win naturally get along.  City are headed that way now that they can compete with United, Real, AC, Inter, ect. in the transfer market game. . . Give us a few decades like yourselves please.

Now: You came on a City thread, started the beef with me, talking junk with your pompous United attitude -So yeah, I am going to defend this thread that belongs to my club to the fullest.  You're lucky they sensor comments up here or it would be a lot worse than Shrek when I'm talking about Rooney.  If you want more from me than keep it comin' pal.  Otherwise, go pretend that the new United kit looks great with all the other fair weather fans on ManU threads. . .

Look man, you no longer control the market in England and neither do Chelsea; we do!  We're the richest club in the world and United and the Premiership are on the shortlist of goals that City are out to accomplish.  It's a matter of time before the red headed stepchild gets a proper beat down.  You're done.  The down slope has begun.  The only reason why we didn't get Sneijder is because we didn't want him.  Otherwise the Mid Eastlands would have been his new home. . .   We'll probably end up with Neymar next season when Santos can't refuse the offer. . .  Now leave it alone and watch what happens in the next few years coming up here.

And back to the jersey.  Ours wins.  Way class.  Way creative and incorporates the fans that have stuck with a club through many tough years. . .

Then you need to open your eyes because every player is bought and sold.  The teams with the most money win.  Your club has proven that to be true -And that's ok. . .  Just understand that City are now doing what all successful clubs have done to get the best players.  Any pro that says, "It's not just about the money." is basically saying that the money is the most important part of the deal.  And why wouldn't they; it's a job that happens to be a sport.  Livelihood comes first for us all.

Now please leave and go get bored somewhere else.  You're getting weaker and weaker every response. . .  TBH, you're done.

nah, City are just an ugly club that happen to be immensly rich, + berbatov is united record signing to date so like we dont spend money just for the sake of spending money

July 17, 2011 3:23 PM

Waldrinho said:

I think I understand what you said, but correct me if I'm wrong.

"City are ugly."  Ok, yeah Vincent Kompany won't be winning any beauty pageants in his lifetime and Tevez ain't no Ronaldo in the face, but I do believe he did win the Golden Boot this season with 20 goals!  NBD, he'll probably end up back at Corinthians when City take the 40 million euros for him (kind of reminds me of the Ronaldo deal with ManU and Real a few years back, would you agree). . .

The gibberish you wrote about Berbatov only solidifies what I have been saying.  Players go where the money is (which happen to be the top clubs, go figure).  Now that he's up there in age and United have younger talent; Berbatov will probably be coming off the bench (even) more and if the right money comes in, he'll be up for loan. . .

And no team spends money for the sake of spending money.  Don't be foolish.  Every club aims to win and wants the best players they can afford. . .  Stop pretending that you do not understand this.  United have been guilty of this for decades (Rooney is a prime example).  You are just mad because you see City growing stronger and now we are the richer club.  .  .

Deal with it, but don't deny it.  We're at your heels for the first time in your lifetime and you need to just relax and understand that the game off the pitch ties into winning trophies.  Always has in our lifetime and always will. . .

And yes, this fact does suck because it takes away from the magic that fans think their clubs have.  But the magic is the money when it comes to getting the best players. . .  Now in your words, "GTFO!"

Good one!  But, it was sarcasm when I spoke of your 'ugly' quote. . .

What else do you have to say about my points.  How do you explain Rooney from Everton and Ronaldo to Real a few years back?  Do not feel that it was money driven?  Wasn't very "fan friendly" of ManU to let Ronaldo go for any price; would you agree?

Money is not what makes a great player, but great players get the most money.  And great clubs get the best players because they have the most money!  And that is exactly why City is no different than your club other than we have just started becoming a 'big money' club.

We aim to get the best players that we can, just like you do.  And to get the best players costs a club astronomical amounts of money.  Agreed?

Other billion-dollar soccer clubs include Real Madrid ($1.35 billion), Spain's historic power, and the Premier League's Arsenal ($1.2 billion) and Liverpool (just over $1 billion; finishing just out of the top 10).

Waldrinho said:

Good!  I'm glad Yaya Toure makes more than Wayne Rooney.  He's better!  And I hope the whole City squad ends up on a Top Ten Rich List because that means we will be one of the best clubs in the world!  Why?  Because we've got the money to buy the best players in the world!!!!  Just like REAL!  Just like INTER, AC, INTER, BARCA, CHELSEA and UNITED!!!

But the whole point is that better football players get more money from rich clubs.  Fact.  We both agree on that.  And now that City are on par with the mentioned clubs above (and then some) we are climbing our way up. . .  Proof in point is the Premiership standings.

You agreed before that money is important to have a successful club, and why is that?  It's so clubs like United, Real and City can go get the best players out there.  It's why good players don't stay at clubs like Everton, Blackpool, Chivas, New Castle, West Ham, ect...  They want to earn as much money as possible, go to where they can get paid AND coincidentally (I think not) be on a club that wins.  And why do those clubs win???  Answer=because they can out bid smaller clubs to get the Rooneys, Ronaldos, and Berbatovs of the world!  There's no denying this.  This is fact.  This is in the books.  Any argument you have on player motivations on success is completely juvenile because you have no idea what motivates any individual.

I go by facts, you go by gut feelings and hopes that United players are somehow exempt from being just as money hungry as the rest of the world.  But the case in point lies in the numbers man.  You've been one of the richest clubs for decades and you've bought players for a ton, sold players for a ton and are guilty of what City are just starting to do.  It's a business and the art of getting the best talent to your team is giving them a good home and cash flow.  When players are happy financially, 9 times out of 10 you are going to have a great club that gets along and has great chemistry.  I really don't know why you can't agree on this?

1.) NO hahahahahahahahahaha toure is not close to the lever of wayne rooney! but City arent on the playing and skill level of those teams!, REAL: Ronaldo, Kaka (no matter how bad at the momebt), INTER: Eto'o, Sneijder, AC: Ibrahimovic, Pato, BARCA: Messi, Iniesta, Chelsea: Drogaba, Lampard, UNITED: Rooney, Vidic. CITY: if im honest im struggling, Tevez (most likely leaving) Silva (hasnt proved himsel) Dzecko (hahahahahahaha). City are just lacking some top quality players for their all round game. I'm agreeing with you and have done ^^^ but what im saying is not ALL players are driven by money. a lot of players are driven by, success, victory, self-improvement, prolific rise, fame, the football and passion. And if you cant see that your blind

July 19, 2011 10:43 PM

Waldrinho said:

I never disagreed with you on that.  I believe that all players HAVE to be dedicated to all of those things you've mentioned in order to be good enough to even be in a First Division team.  But the true elite, that make the most money from the best clubs, expect to be paid top dollar in comparison to the going rate of the other players in their dedicated positions. . .

As I said before, City are just starting to build a 'rich' team like United, Real, Chelsea, ect. . .  And we are getting better each season.  We've done a ton in the last 3 years that no one can take away from us.  You guys struggled with Tevez as we are now, but I am confident that the 40 million Euros that we will receive for him will land us a proper replacement.  Now as far as chemistry goes, that takes time and we all know that.  Let's just see what happens in the next couple of years.  I know we're on to something great and a player or two away from being the best in England.  We've already go Adam Johnson which is the best up and coming player for England. . .
