Football Shirts > Liverpool Third Shirt 2011-2012 - adidas Football Shirt

Unveiling a very different football shirt for Liverpool Football Club, perhaps representative of the radical changes the club is undergoing! Here's the brand new white/cyan blue/black Liverpool Third shirt 2011/12 from adidas football.

The new Liverpool FC third football kit takes its design inspiration from the classic tracksuit tops worn by the infamous LFC teams of the mid 1980’s, incorporating the diagonal stripe across the front of the shirt. And a closer look at the shirt reveals further subtle design features including a diagonal, tonal emboss running through the fabric.

Drawing from history and tradition, the new Liverpool third kit 11/12 showcases a stylish modern twist. The inclusion of cyan blue in the shirt design dates back to Liverpool’s first home kit worn almost 120 years ago which incorporated alternate white and blue halves – it wasn’t until Bill Shankly became manager that the home kit became completely red, in 1964.

The cyan blue is used throughout the 2011-12 Liverpool football jersey and incorporated into the design through the iconic adidas three stripes across the shoulders and the shirt sponsor. The shirts main design features diagonal stripes in black and cyan blue over the right shoulder and continuing around the trim of the sleeve to create a modern, stylish look whilst giving a nostalgic nod to the club’s illustrious past.

As with all modern elite football gear, the new Liverpool 3rd kit is more than just a jersey it's a piece of performance equipment engineered to assist the players. On the field, the players’ kits will incorporate adidas’ cutting edge TechFit™ technology, to help improve speed, increase endurance capabilities and enhance awareness. This works by stabilizing and focusing the muscles’ energy to generate explosive acceleration and deliver maximum power output.

The shirts also feature adidas ClimaCool™ technology, a mixture of heat and moisture controlling materials, ventilation channels and 3D fabrics which improve air flow to the skin in the key heat zones.

The all new 2011/12 Liverpool Third Shirt is certainly a bold step away from the norm. To be one of the first fans to stun your mates and wear the new Liverpool third jersey, you can pre-order from today, ahead of an expected release on 14th July.

Now you've seen the all new 2011-12 Liverpool adidas Third Shirt, share your thoughts with the SoccerBible community online, on Twitter and on Facebook.

Looks a lot like a training top to me. Not horrible. I'm not a Liverpool fan at all but where is the red? I hate when they make a jersey and the clubs colors are not incorporated in the jersey at all. It's just stupid and with Liverpool having blue in it, it would be like having blue in a mach ester united jersey... Or red in a Madrid jersey...

Mdridmanfan792: I had the same thought when I saw the kit. The twin-stripe coming up from the right armpit looks like a random design element that would be part of a training top. The colors are nice though.

It's a third jersey after all, how often will we see the kit being worn?

Then again, in this day and age of ├╝ber PC and equal opportunity for all, the kit is catered towards color blind Liverpool fans -- to them, blue is red!

hey fellas, need to remind y'all that this's their 3rd jersey. Color issues shouldn't come in. Ok?!

The prototype pic has a normal sleeve but the one Gerard's wearing has longer sleeves.

In my opinion, this jersey's a great one though it looks Argentina-ish.

I think it looks pretty nice and I'm not a Liverpool fan. As for all the comments about why Blue, read the info - Liverpool played in these colours first BEFORE they changed to red in 1964, so what's the problem? It's traditional styling for the club

Stop complaining about the colour, how many times will Liverpool actually wear this shirt? I'd say 2 times maximum as they aren't in Europe. Third shirts are pointless and are only there so Adidas, Nike etc make more money.

What is the problem everyone have by the blue colour ? It is not the same blue colour as everton use! It's a third shirt, so why do they need to have red in it ? and Madridmanfan792, Man Utd had blue in their third shirt for a few years ago? 2008 if i remember

Very nice kit love the design and the colours I would buy it without the Liverpool badge and besides they are only going to play in it once maybe not many teams wear red and black for there home kit and they won't wear it in Europe as they don't have it! And Liverpool fans I get you about the blue, but it's not Evertons colour and it's a nice kit I bet if they changed that blue colour to red you would be going mental over how nice it is... Come on it's a money making kit who cares!!

@mr. Arsenal yes your correct we did have a blue European kit. But it was also the exact color as the previous European jersey we had years before. And we also play in Europe, Liverpool don't. But Idk know liverpool's history so I didn't know they had worn blue before but did they really have this color blue?

I just don't know why liverpool needs a third shirt.  They're not playing in europe.  This would be like Grimsby town having a third shirt.
