Football Shirts > Manchester City Away 10/11 Umbro Football Shirt

Downtown Manhattan, New York became the surprising location for Umbro’s unveiling of the new Manchester City Away Shirt 10/11. It's a classy design from Umbro, and a completely unique launch event, check out the SoccerBible's full details and images of the Manchester City Away football kit 10/11...

As part of their pre-season tour of the US, City stars Joe Hart, Emmanuel Adebayor, Micah Richard, Dedryck Boyata, Shaun Wright-Phillips, Wayne Bridge and Kolo Toure turned up to play locals in a pick-up game in Sara D. Roosevelt Park to launch the new Manchester City away football shirt 10/11!

After drawing 1-1 against the locals Touré commented: “We loved playing against the New Yorkers. They gave us a good game on their home turf. The pitch right in the heart of the city and the atmosphere around it gave us a glimpse of how big football is in New York. It was a fun game to play in and a great way to debut our new away kit”.

The dark navy colour of the 10/11 Manchester City away soccer jersey is inspired by the ‘Dark Side of the Moon’ - the blue moon symbol being synonymous with Manchester City. A subtle and classy tonal pinstripe runs through the shirt, to ensure a smart, tailored look for each player.

Probably the stand-out feature of the new Man City Away kit is the socks, with sky blue hoops set against dark navy. The new away socks are designed to help the Manchester City players see each other more clearly in their peripheral vision.

The neckline of the Man City away shirt 10/11 is modelled on the v-neck of a classic drill top, and features a flash of sky blue demonstrating the layering principal behind the shirt, whilst also ensuring a little bit of home travels away!

Constructed around the unique ergonomic shape of the players and rooted in Umbro’s football tailoring principles, the new Man City kit moves with the player’s body, creating comfort and ensuring the shirt articulates in all the right places. Modelled on base layer technology, the shirt is made out of different technical fabrics each designed to fit the player’s bodies, add ventilation and aid performance.

Trevor Cairns, Chief Marketing Officer for Umbro commented: “The new Umbro away kit for Manchester City follows the principles of smartness and tailoring that were developed last year but with added performance for the 2010/2011 season. Launching this shirt while the players are away in New York was an opportunity not to be missed and the atmosphere during the pick-up game was electric. The pros were certainly given a good game by New York’s finest amateurs.”

The new Manchester City Away Football Shirt 2010/11 is available now from the club shop, where you should expect to pay around £45 GBP / $70 USD for your new City shirt.

We'd love to hear the fans reactions to this very different and distinctive styled Man City football jersey...
