Football Shirts > Manchester United Home Kit 09/10 Revealed - 26/06/09

SoccerBible has the official unveiling of the new Manchester United home kit for the 2009/10 Premier League season...

The new Nike Manchester United home shirt has been designed and inspired by the 'Theatre of Dreams', as Old Trafford celebrates its centenary year. The new football shirt features a large chevron across the chest, which echoes the same pattern United wore on their shirts during the 1909/10 season when Old Trafford first opened.

The new Manchester United 09/10 home shirt features a number of new technologies. The entire back of the shirt has an engineered mesh, which is a series of small chevrons, to offer players even greater ventilation during play. The shirt is also made from Nike Dri-Fit fabric, which keeps players drier, cooler and lighter by drawing sweat from the body to the fabric’s surface.

After seeing the new Manchester United home kit Rio Ferdinand stated: "I’m sure we’ll all be buzzing when we run out in the new kit next season. Maintaining the traditions of the club is very important. Last season we had the blue kit to remember the European Cup winners of 1968 and this one dates back to the 1900s to celebrate 100 years of Old Trafford. This club has always taken pride in its history - it acts as an inspiration to all of us and it’s great to see it represented in the new kits.”

Manchester United have lifted an astonishing twenty major trophies in the last twenty seasons, an incredible run based largely on their dominant form at Old Trafford. A run they will be looking to continue, wearing a shirt that displaying a 'V for victory'.

We will see the new Manchester United 09/10 home shirts first worn by United stars Rooney, Ferdinand and Berbatov on the clubs pre-season tour of Asia that begins on 16th July. The same date the shirt will be available from, although it is currently available on pre-order.

Are all the comments on this site made by young kids? All this "My team is better than your team, your team sucks, my team are amazing...bla bla bla". Who really cares, why dont you just focus on your own team or at least comment about the product in hand.

Anyway for what its worth I dont like the shirt that much. It looks a bit like a training shirt, I think the 'V' is way too bold, if they had to do a 'V' why not use a black outline with red fill not fully black. Plus i dont really like the collar, or lack of it.

I think the way forward with footy shirts these days is to keep it traditional and simple for example the new England shirt which I think most people seem to like.

There have been some aweful kits out recently, Newcastle away?! Spurs home?! and now this.

Im sure we will all be used to it soon though!

to footie mad and adri... I guess u really like liverpool..but no point in arguing which team is better......the reality shows that there are more fingerprints on the cup from man u last year than liverpool...so let's see what's up this year

Have you seen the new goalie kit? :)

In my opion they should use it (the goalie kit) as away kit for 09/10, it's absolutely gorgeus and i'm a Liverpool fan :)

PS Adri: Yes I agree with u, the goalie kit should be the new away kit, in fact I though it would be having seen some net leaks recently.

Do you think Liverpool could do with a change to Nike soon? I just think Adidas have run out of ideas, the new Chelsea kit is an example of that. Having said that Real Madrids Adidas kit is really nice this year.

I totally agree with perrygroves.

It looks so much like a training shirt

and in fact they ripped the chevron "V" thing off the Nike 5 futsal range.

I so think the previous jersey looked better

and surprise surprise they use J.S. Park to model the new shirt.

It's so obvious they're trying to increase shirt sales by exploiting the Asian/Korean Market.

They're not as nice as I thought they would be. Adidas seems to top the Nike kit designs in the recent years. What ever happened to the good old 05/06 season kits from Nike? Those were straight class.
