Puma extend their re-energised King collection with another stylish colour drop. The new White/Black/Ocean design arrives as PUMA's fourth addition to the 2012/13 King line. A fresh black & white boot brought to life with two helpings of 'Ocean' & red combines everything that's classic and modern about today's King.

The King still holds its place as one of the all time classics. Seen as the boot choice for football traditionalists, the new design boasts modern technologies that keep the King relevant. One look at their professional roster tells you all you need to know.

Recent convert Nemanja Vidic leads an impressive line-up of King wearers that includes Arsenal's Mikel Arteta, Manchester United duo Michael Carrick and Phil Jones, Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure and Bayern Munich's Brazilian defender Dante.

The PUMA King SL strips everything back to a boot that weighs a super-slender 171g – a seriously lightweight boot. The upper is constructed using a Japanese premium microfibre material with leather like properties.

The standard edition PUMA King has been reworked to deliver a lighter boot than previous generations, weighing just over the 200g mark. For the upper, PUMA stay true to everyone’s favourite aspect of the King. The boot upper, made from a super-soft premium leather, adapts to the natural curves of the foot for a glove-like fit.

The King's reputation for fit and touch has never wavered - you'll struggle to find a finer leather boot in the game. The central lacing combines with a new performance tongue. The short, perforated 3D tongue ensures a closer touch and perfect fit.

The lightweight Pebax outsole uses a mix of conical and traction studs to ensure a good balance between flexibility, grip and manoeuvrability, while the external heel counter with classic KING branding gives improved heel fit and stability – perfect for protecting you from those crunching tackles on the heel.

PUMA also continue with their AptoLast technology system which helps the boot conform to the natural shape of the foot, providing a snug fit which improves over time as the boot shapes itself to the foot. Don't expect a long break-in period with this boot.

The bespoke sole unit used on the PUMA King features optimum lightweight technology with a pebax and nylon outsole. A newly engineered stud configuration offers better grip and manoeuvrability while a more refined external heel counted provides the required level of protection and stability.

The new White/Black/Ocean PUMA King & King SL football boots are available to pre-order now. Drop the word 'Ocean' into a colour update and you can expect a fresh looking boot, well that's exactly what PUMA have delivered for their next PowerCat 1.12 standard and SL editions. We've paired up the two for this photoshoot, to compare the distinguishing differences and similarities on the latest drop of their Power boot.

Released in both an SL and standard PowerCat edition, the latest design features bright pops of bold colour on a stylish white leather upper. The PowerCat is targeted at every sides 'Power Hungry' player, but has recently been adopted by some of Europe's most creative midfielder's including Marco Reus and Cesc Fabregas. A versatile boot to suit all positions, the PowerCat 1.12 has grown in reputation while PUMA continue to work up stronger looking colourways.

The PUMA PowerCat 1.12 SL is a reworked and lighter version of the popular power boot. Subtle changes have been introduced to reduce the overall weight. A perforated tongue and a visibly softer, lighter leather marginally raises the bar from the standard PowerCat.

Much of the PowerCats standard technologies remain, with the PowerCat SL featuring the same advancements that made the boot one of the versatile in the game. The 3D DUO Power Shooting technology remains the stand-out feature.

The boots staple shooting technology is made from an innovative thermoplastic material with two different degrees of hardness, creating the advantage of being both highly responsive with extremely high rebound properties. The kicking area of the PowerCat 1.12 is enhanced by a soft K-Leather while the lightweight microfibre material in the lateral quarter supports the mid-foot and helps to keep the weight of the boot to a minimum.

In a move to keep the overall weight down, the PUMA PowerCat 1.12 features a Pebax injected stud configuration, previously used utilised in the construction of the v1.11. The Puma PowerLast, an evolution of the Puma AptoLast, which follows the foot’s natural contours to provide a glove like fit allowing the upper to mould to the players foot.

PUMA are holding on to their position in the Power market, whilst fellow brands like adidas dramatically reduce the weight and change the upper material of their Predator, or Nike seemingly drop the T90 range all together. PUMA will therefore be on the hunt for boot converts, and dropping fresh colours like this one can certainly help the boots appeal.
