adidas F50 adiZero Football Boots - Lionel Messi - Metallic Gold/Black/White

As the best footballer in the world, Lionel Messi is a player worthy of wearing a gold boot, which is exactly what adidas have created for him with these new Metallic Gold adidas F50 adiZero football boots.

It seems every player is changing up to the adizero's, with the original Messi exclusive Chameleon colourway proving just as popular with the pro's. So when Messi takes to the field in early September, here's what he will be wearing. Check out a first and exclusive look at the new Messi adidas F50 adiZero football boots...

The synthetic upper versions of the adiZero's are a super-slim 165grams (5.8oz), making this not only adidas' most revolutionary football boot to date, but by far their lightest. You may be surprised at how much thought, development and tech adidas have crammed into that 165g cleat, they have in no way sacrificed technology and performance for weight.

The SprintSkin single layer synthetic returns from the F50i, this time upgraded and uprated to give even more of a second skin feel. Thinner and lighter than the previous model, perhaps the most obvious benefit is the zero water uptake - meaning this cleat doesn't get heavy even in wet conditions.

The F50 adiZero soccer cleats also have a new "grain" engineered onto the outer surface, designed to give greater ball grip in both the wet and dry. Using a Copa Mundial as their test benchmark, adidas claim much greater spin and grip with this grain.

The adidas F50 adiZero adopts an asymmetric parrallel lacing system which moves off-centre to create a greater, cleaner kicking surface. Also introduced is a new "Taperlace" system, intended to be much thinner and flatter to reduce any unnecessary material between the foot and the ball. The top of the lace area has also been made wider, so your tied laces won't get in the way as much!

The FG plate features new triangular Traxion studs, placed at strategic positions across the sole unit which aid pressure distribution and are designed to give improved directional grip.

This new last is unique to the F50 series, differing from the Predator and adiPure lasts which have a wider yet flatter footbed. Meaning the studs can be positioned closer to the outside of the sole to give greater stability, essential when you are looking to create the fastest boot on the planet for the best footballer in the world!

You can expect to see the new Metallic Gold Lionel Messi adidas F50 adiZero football boots hit the shelves from early September, after going on pre-order from the 16th August and they retain the great price of £125 GBP / $200 USD

Kick-off for the new season is just around the corner, so here's a last chance to get a look at the football boots being worn in by your favourite players in preparation. There were a few more customised boots on show, as well as the brand new colourways, and we also clear up the debate around Leo Messi's boots...


Royston Drenthe (Real Madrid) Nike CTR360 Maestri Custom	Nicolas Anelka (Chelsea) adidas F50 adiZero
A classy looking customised pair of Nike CTR360 Maestri football boots from Drenthe. We don't know what it is about green on football boots, but they always seem to look good, and it also looks like Drenthe could be sporting an Elite sole-plate.	If Anelka was still a Puma endorsed player, he could be forgiven for wearing adiZero's during training and preseason. But as he wore the adiZero during the Community Shield, we'd suggest his partnership with Puma was over.


Edu (Schalke 04) adidas Predator X Custom	Yaya Toure (Man City) Nike T90 Laser III
Edu's white-out adidas Predator X football boots are really effective and look great on pitch. It's surprising really that no-one, before Edu, has thought of wearing an all white version on the latest Preds.	The new colourway for the K leather Nike Laser III football boots is a good match for the Manchester City kit, as worn by new signing Yaya Toure. We also noticed the dynamic midfielder is wearing the regular sole-plate.


Nemanja Vidic (Man Utd) Puma PowerCat 1.10	Lionel Messi (Barcelona) adidas F50 adiZero
Having seen Nemanja Vidic, and Michael Carrick, wearing the latest Puma PowerCat colourway during the Community Shield victory, we're convinced Puma designed this colourway specifically for the United players.	There has been a lot of excitement about Lionel Messi's black-out adiZero's. Unfortunately though, we can confirm he was just wearing his original blacked out adiZero I versions, as you can tell by the tongue that has slipped to one side, the leather stitching on the instep and the lacing system.


Emmanuel Adebayor (Man City) adidas F50 adiZero	Florent Malouda (Chelsea) Nike CTR360 Maestri
It was interesting to see Adebayor tape up the laces of his adiZero football boots. We've not heard of any players having problems with their laces, and the positioning of Adebayor's tape is too high up to affect ball touch or strike.	Malouda tried out a whole variety of football boots during pre-season, wearing the Superfly II, CTR Maestri Elite, adidas adiPure III and the F50 adiZero's. But for the first competitive game of the season, he opted to stick with his original CTR360 Maestri football boots, although he has blacked them out.


Michael Owen (Man Utd) Umbro Speciali	David Silva (Man City) adidas F50 adiZero
Owen will be keen to make an impression with United after a frustrating first season. The prolific goalscorer was appearing in the Community Shield wearing the Umbro Speciali's, one of last season's boot successes which surprisingly hasn't received an update.	Manchester City fans must still be pinching themselves at the calibre of player they are now attracting, and here is another world class player wearing the sky blue kit. David Silva is another adidas F50 adiZero convert after previously wearing adiPure's.


Wayne Rooney (Man Utd) Nike T90 Laser III	Milan Jovanovic (Liverpool) Puma v1.815 Ferrari
Rooney will be looking to put the summer's debacle behind him, and concentrate on playing for Manchester United. Rooney featured heavily in Nike's advertising campaign for the Nike Elite football boots, but is himself opting not to wear the Elite versions.	The Puma v1.815 was a revolutionary football boot on its release - lightweight and packed with a host of innovative technologies, the Ferrari was a very popular boot amongst the pro's. They also have the added benefit that they perfectly match the Liverpool home strip for Jovanovic.


Paulo Ferreira (Chelsea) adidas adiPure III	Carlos Tevez (Man City) Nike CTR360 Maestri
We've been surprised Paulo Ferreira has been wearing adidas adiPure III football boots, because Ferreira has been a long term Vapor wearer and even wore Puma PowerCat's during the World Cup.	We slightly suspected Tevez might return to wearing his white/blue Tiempo Legend I football boots on his return to Manchester. But he's stuck with CTR's, which he wore during the World Cup, and is opting not to wear the Elite versions.

Nike CTR360 Maestri Football Boots - White/Cyber/Black

The next in two new season colour updates for the Nike CTR360 Maestri football boots, complete with a striking new look and paint job!

Since its launch back in October 2009, the CTR360 series has cemented itself as one of the premier football boots for players around the world. Check out the SoccerBible's exclusive photo gallery for the new White/Cyber/Black colourway. Marking the seventh colourway release for the relatively young CTR360 series, along with the Black/White/Retro edition these are the first to feature a distinctive colour-blending upper style.

We'll leave it up to you to make your own mind up about this, as we're sure you'll let us know whether you love it or hate it!

As this is a new colour release for the CTR360 range, you won't need too much reminding that the Nike CTR360's have an innovative design to take ball control to the next level - by assisting a player to win the ball, keep control and distribute the ball. All performance attributes that have made these football boots particularly popular with playmaking midfielders and SoccerBible HQ team a like!

These colour shift White/Cyber/Black CTR360 Maestri's are available in a firm ground sole-plate, another area of the boot that Nike have paid particular attention to. Designed with a unique stud configuration to improve movement, the studs are dual-density at the fore of the boot to help with trap control and improve ball grip. Whilst at the heel of the boot, the studs are sharper and stronger, to lock down the planted foot whilst the other controls, strikes or passes the ball. Which is all the more odd that this sole plate is something they seem to have dropped for the premium Nike Elite CTR360 version!

The upper of the Nike CTR360 Maestri football boots is made from a synthetic Kanga-Lite material, developed by Nike this material gives the same ball touch and feel of a natural K leather. But with the added benefit of being a more durable material that absorbs 20% less water than a natural leather, which also means the boot will remain lightweight in wet conditions.

Regular SoccerBible fans will know the stand-out design features of the Nike CTR360 Maestri football boots are the dampening pods, which have cushioning properties to improve ball control. Whilst passing is more direct and accurate due to the pods forming around the ball when struck because of the shape-correcting memory foam.

Complimenting the pods is a pass pad on the in-step of the boots, again strategically placed to assist ball control and passing accuracy.

The list of players who have converted to the Nike CTR360 Maestri football boots certainly makes for impressive reading, and are a testament to the performance attributes of the CTR's. Since their release we've seen such players as Cesc Fabregas, Andres Iniesta, Sergio Aguero, Javier Mascherano, Rafael van der Vaart, James Milner, Florent Malouda, Fernando Gago and Ashley Cole impressing in this brand new boot range.

We rate the Nike CTR360 Meastri football boots very highly here at the SoccerBible, as one of the most comfortable boots on the market and a boot that can genuinely be worn straight from the box onto the pitch. Whilst we're not excatly over-joyed with Nike's experiments with the colour palette, but at least they are trying something different that the standard reportoire of colours.

Nike Tiempo Legend Elite Football Boots - White/Seaweed/Sport Red

After the success of the Nike Elite series for the World Cup, Nike reveal a new colour update for their popular Tiempo range and the first of many independant Nike Tiempo Elite football boots.

The Elite series were some of the most highly anticipated football boots of 2010, and show no signs of letting up with the release of this Whtie/Seaweed/Sport Red colourway - featuring the unique Elite weight-loss treatment...

We've already seen from the Nike Elite Tiempo Legend football boots that lightweight construction, intricate engineering and carbon-enforced strength take this boot to a new level. As the pinnacle of Nike's Tiempo range, the expected ball touch and feel is enhanced with lightweight speed performance!

Gone is the lairy colourway of the launch Elite series, replaced by a much more acceptable Whtie, Grey and Red combination which more suits the classic lines of the Tiempo series. The blacked out carbon-fiber chassis features retro Nike insignia and stylishly compliments the clean white upper.

To combine with the speed and lightweight sole-plate, Nike have re-engineered the upper of the Nike Elite Tiempo Legend football boots. The Nike Tiempo is synonymous with ball touch and feel, but to maintain 'Elite' performance Nike have utilised their Kanga-Lite material , a water-resistant synthetic that mimics the supreme ball feel and touch of kangaroo leather whilst maintaining its performance in all conditions.

To develop the Nike Elite Legend football boots , Nike conducted extensive research and player testing. Their findings showed the average energy expenditure of an elite player is over 1,000 Kilo Calories per game for a 75kg player. Reducing the weight carried by players helps reduce the energy needed over the course of 90 minutes. By delivering a super-strong and lightweight carbon fibre plate, the Elite Nike Tiempo Legends are 16% lighter to give players an edge in the final stages of a game.

The supercharged Nike Elite football boots are providing new levels of performance, and the Nike Elite Tiempo Legend football boots are a testament to this. We're expecting to see the likes of Gerard Pique, Andrea Pirlo and Joe Cole sporting the Nike Elite Tiempo Legend football boots though pre-season and the start of the domestic campaigns.

With a much more subtle and restrained colourway, these new Tiempo Elite football boots should give the Elite series a wider appeal. But if you're going to have to start saving now, as these Elite editions of the Tiempo Legend football boots will retail for £215 GBP a pair when they hit selected retailers and Nike stores.
