Football Boots > Nike Mercurial Vapor IX CR FG - White/Volt/Crimson

The CR signature series continues with the release of the new Nike Mercurial Vapor IX CR - Cristiano Ronaldo's sixth exclusive Mercurial football boot. Encapsulating the distinctive style we've come to expect from Ronaldo's flash footwear, these Vapor IX boots - titled White/Volt/Crimson - are another wild expression of CR style.

Love them or hate them, everybody has an opinion when it comes to the CR signature series. Nike reserve their most daring designs for their headline athlete, using any CR launch as an opportunity to spice things up. These though might face a challenge in convincing the most loyal of Ronaldo fans! We'll let you make your own mind up.

After Nike's CR Mercurial Vapor VIII, we thought Cristiano might be taking a new, classier approach to his on-pitch style. But no. Nike and Ronaldo's collaborations - which date back to 2009 - have been anything but predictable. Once again they've turned the tables, delivering one of their most bizarre designs yet.

Ronaldo's new look is derived from the world of cycling. The White/Volt/Crimson Mercurial V9 boots take their inspiration from cycling's 'Rainbow Jersey' - a striped coloured jersey given to the world champion to make him more visible to other competitors. A smart concept and one that in theory, might make Ronaldo more visible to his team mates.

The orange spotted Swoosh might look like it's infected, but is in fact patterned with Nike's famous Safari print, used on the first two CR signature shoes. Ronaldo's Love/Hate logo - introduced for his previous 2012 collection - and his iconic no.7 both sit within the yellow & blue stripes which wrap around the entire boot.

As for the boot itself, Ronaldo returns to same Japanese microfiber material as used on his signature Vapor VIII and the Platinum Mercurial Vapor IX. The material has a leather finish applied to it and is distinctively different to the upper of the Fireberry V9, but is one that Cristiano obviously favours. They also come equipped with Nike's ACC technology.

Cristiano Ronaldo's new signature Nike football boots are available to pre-order now from selected online stockists. So come on then, let us know what you think of CR's latest design! Join the conversation online, on Twitter and on Facebook.

His previous range only came out a few months ago. Too many colourways are released today. Boots used to have novelty when the latest colourways lasted for half a season

given this and the latest releases from nike, i can only assume that they are targeting the 5-9 years olds. no, person older then 9, with just a hint of taste and self respect would buy this boot. that or this is an ongoing inside joke.

First colourway was really good (except for the pink touch: i don't like it) but it was a shame you couldn't customise them!

The only way I would buy these is if my team wore an all orange kit. If it blended with the socks it might look good.

Ummmmm, has no one noticed the shocking resemblance to Barcalona's away kit???? That can't go over well with the Real Madrid faithful!

I think it'd look fine if it was just two toned red and white, the obsidian and volt striped killed the design.

Why not preview the vast people who nikeid and miadidas their boots instead of posting the same horrible boot colors they put out? These are dime a dozen while everybody is customizing their boots and are way more rare than these? These honestly look like they were designed by a 9 year old and his mom. So many twitter pic you of their designs...

Those may be the worst pro model I have ever seen. Ronaldo must get help because in order for him to approve those, he must be on drugs.

Bit late to the party with this one. My 2 cents? I them. They're no where near as good as the last pair, but what really is starting to grind my gears is the frequency with these releases. Last CR7 he wore for what, 3 games? Was on soccerbible Nov 6, then 10 weeks later the MVIX shows up, 4 weeks before the silly limited edition CR7 whites. Now 7 weeks till these. Thats 4 boots in a little over 5 months....c'mon Nike, give us a chance to actually wear some boots first! MParry6 already called it, there are far too many releases too often for any of them to stand out. On the plus side, I do really like these new photos seeing the boots on a pitch, so thumbs up there soccerbible :)
