Football Boots > Nike Mercurial Vapor VIII Football Boots - Mango/Grey

Nike has re-engineered the famous Mercurial range to unveil a boot with even better performance and a striking new appearance. A series that has been at the pinnacle of the game for over a decade returns with ground breaking innovation and cutting edge technology all wrapped up in a stunning Mango/Grey colourway. The wait is over...the Nike Mercurial Vapor VIII has arrived.

The Mercurial series is renowned for eye-catching appearances guaranteed to put you firmly in the spotlight and Nike's next generation Vapor is no different. With a debut Mango/Grey colourway the Vapor VIII comes packed with a striking new look for the likes of Ronaldo, Özil, Ribéry and Drogba.

For the 2012/13 season the Mercurial Vapor takes performance innovation to the next level with a totally re-engineered boot built for explosive speed. In typical Mercurial fashion the Vapor VIII is released in a colourway that does not shy away from attention and will be an unmissable sight when Mercurial's lead players unleash them onto the world stage from March 24th!

The outside of the Nike Mercurial Vapor VIII hosts a smaller swoosh to the previous Vapor, however no brand identity is lost as the striking new design features a distinctive swoosh on the instep of the boot as well as a visual signature on the heel, which stands out when placed on the Mango backdrop.

A sleeker and closer feel is achieved by a special toe-box reinforcer, increasing comfort around the toe. The new Vapor also features a thinner, stronger and lighter Teijin Microfiber with a suede-like finish, increasing ball control and touch as well as reducing the weight to 185g.

The Nike Mercurial Vapor VIII football boot has been redesigned to create a snug upper while locking down the foot and preventing unwanted movement, Nike's new Anatomic Last takes the fit of the boot to a new level of support and stability. This effect is enhanced by a more minimalist and softer heel counter, maximizing both comfort and fit.

The new Nike Mercurial Vapor VIII football boots deliver the ultimate in fit, touch and traction. A combination that has established the Mercurial as one of the greatest speed boots of all time. Nike recognise the modern game is played on a fine line and that one slip could be the difference between success and failure - traction is everything.

Twin studs at the back of the boot allow for a quick release from the turf and the asymmetric design of the stud configuration delivers an explosive start. Sharper blades have been introduced to the Nike Vapor VIII allowing for game changing acceleration.

Nike's leading Mercurial star Cristiano Ronaldo has already given the new Nike Vapor VIII his seal of approval “This boot is perfect for me. I can get an edge on defenders, knowing that the boot will give me the speed and traction I need without compromising support, control or, of course, style.”

You will be able to pre-order your pair of the new Mango/Grey Nike Mercurial Vapor VIII football boots from March 20th at selected retailers. Expect to see Nike's latest release hit European pitches from 24.03.12. The boots will retail worldwide for around £150 GBP / $220 USD / €180.

The explosive launch of the Mercurial Vapor VIII is Nike's biggest statement of intent for many years! The worlds most iconic speed boot has been overhauled in a move to help reclaim its position as football's deadliest soccer shoe. The eyes of the boot world will be on Neymar, Ronaldo and co. as the Mercurial Vapor heads into a new era.

Now you've had a look at the new Mango/Grey Nike Mercurial Vapor VIII football boots, are you a fan? Share your thoughts with the SoccerBible community online, on Twitter and on Facebook.

ive used superfly since they have been available, and always loved em and felt nike had the upperhand, but have recently thought about switching to the micoach range. I feld my breath, showed a bit of loyalty and waited for the new vapor as all the ad material was suggesting revolution instead of evolution... lies.

Big disappointment... getting rid of flywire and then making it a snugger fit, and still coming in 10g heavier than a boot that will track my movements for the same price! Why have i been shelling out for superfly tech, when obviously it wasnt needed!

Let down... despite looking nicer, my next seasons boot wont be the vapor 8.... Time to start fresh with a speed boot i think Nike!

These are shocking. In the bad way. All this wait and hype for a boot which is basically the Vapour III!? the adiZero miCoach is a superior boot to this in every way, Nike have no new tech, the colour of the release is awful but that isn't important as they will release new colours every other month but the boot itself offers nothing new, pretty poor effort from Nike, they release little fads like Nike+ that gives you Points in the form of Nike Fuel? Only idiots buy into that, oh wow I earn 50 points because I played a footy match... at least adidas actually gives relevant information like distance ran, sprints and so forth, Nike have fallen behind big time. adiZero and adiPower dominate the fields

Only the blind NIKE faithful like these abominations. I have primarily used vapors for 10 years now, but this is where I draw the line. I've had Vapors, Superfly's, Tiempos and the new T90's. These are hideous and I hope NIKE notices that most people don't like these.  The outside logo matching the inside logo is a GREAT idea but this color way is just plain ugly. And who actually looks down enough for those stupid stripes to help peripheral vision? I think the color stands out enough as it is. Maybe these feel great, but who can honestly say these look good?

Glad the poll agrees with me.

March 19, 2012 10:38 PM

BrazierS said:

ffbpc, I agree. Nike need to change the design up totally, not the physical design but the graphic design. Adidas have shown that the same outsole with a different design can work with the Adizero's, why can;t Nike see it.

As a product designer, I think the outside of the outsole looks plain and stupid and I would replicate the inside tick onto the outside instantly if I was designing them.

I think its funny how many people complained about Superfly's. How heavy they were and how the carbon-fiber sole plate was stupid and about how the retracting studs didn't work.

Yet now when they simplify the design, slim them down, make them lighter and better fitting all those people are still complaining. Can you say haters?

Having been lucky and already tried out a pair for myself I think they're brilliant, they feel amazing and the stud configuration gives you is way better than the superfly's

Tried these on at a shop today. I have to say, I was extremely impressed. The feel is definitely an improvement over the last versions. Certainly more Vapor III like, which is obviously a good thing. I was most surprised at how thin and soft the upper was. It's very sock like but super comfortable. I kicked a ball around and the touch seemed excellent. The durability could be a concern though and the rear studs might be questionable on turf. I think they're are worth a go. As for the whole technology argument, I hardly feel that adidas has revolutionized the game with the micoach. Some people just don't care about their on field stats and just enjoy playing the game. That's not to say the tech isn't cool, but it certainly doesn't make adidas any better than nike.

As for your ignorant view on how stat tracking isn't of use, you clearly lack the intelligence to understand a benefit. So I'll let u off.

To anyone that says; 'because these are good enough for Ronaldo, they are good enough for.' If you are nieve enough to think that any top player cares what boot they wear, you are sadly mistaken. They are mercenaries, bigger pay check wins. Also, please remember that the boots Ronaldo wears will be to his EXACT specification, vacuum formed to his feet.

Please be aware that the main difference here is that I will be paying for my boots, not being paid to use them. So I want the best boot for my money. Sadly, these days, it seems Adidas offer more for the money.

I've always worn vapors since I was in elementary school going back to the R9 chrome vapors. I've always loved the boot not bc I fell of the whole speed thing but bc they were what were I felt comfortable on my feet and they look nice. In more recent years I have tried different boots. The only boots I can say felt real comfortable were the Adipowers. The only thing I dislike about Adidas is the dreaded white sole plate. They have great touch and very light weight. While I do like the micoach feature from the F50s I dont like the way they feel on my feet. I'm sure they're great for a lot of ppl though. Also my feet are narrow so Im sure vapors feel better on me than they would on other ppl with wide feet. I am not "hating" on any speed boot but all I'm saying is that I go with what feels better. This new vapor actually looks great in my opinion. I'm not too enthusiastic about the front swoosh but since we have been used to a large swoosh of course it looks weird. Bottom line you can't say a boot is rubbish until you actually tried it..

I agree with Miguelr1557, dont complain about something until you have tried it.  People should quit getting their boots based on what pros wear them and  get what fits them the best. At the end of the day getting adizeros wont make you any closer to messi and a pair of vapors wont make you like ronaldo.  Be your own player and find what works for you.  Dont fall for gimmicks!

Why would you be upset with no flywire and carbon fiber?? all it did was raise the price sky high, and the vapor viii is lighter than the superfly anyway. Awesome looking boot, can't wait to get a pair.
