stupid ugly effortless adizero is better

I dont care what people say but i think these are amazing.  At least they have carbon fibre for added stability  unlike adizeros.

bit  pricey, vry nice though, dont look that light really, look quite comfy

nice in terms of weight, but terrible in terms of looks. I prefer the adizero, plus MY PERSONAL OPINION is that adidas is a much more reliable brand, so I have a feeling that there must be a drawback to this...

I think that they are a very competitive boot, and will have Adidas and Nike thinking a little. Nice in my opinion.

@Nidas, what kinda **** you chatting? obviously not stupid because players need speed and they're the lightest boots around. effortless, i dont even know what thats supposed to mean but clearly alot of effort has been put into these boots to make them to the standard they are.

overall, i think these are quality boots, and they havent had to remove bits of the boot like they have off the adizero's to make it lighter. i think this is a quality effort, however im not too keen on the shape of them, and ive had a pair of puma boots before, as have alot of my mates, and all of our boots have split fairly easily. thats my only concern.

it doesn´t interest if a boot weight 165g or 180g

my laser are around 325g and they are very very good

looks like a cheap version of the  Puma v1.815 Ferrari. They don't look like a speed boot like the adizero or superfly do. Will be interesting to see the reviews

Great job of puma coming out with a boot leighter than the adizero, but both adizero and this puma Sl aren't really what i'd wear, nike Superfly's are much better, even though they weigh a little more. Superfly's are prob the best boots on the market atm, because of the leightweight, feeling, form and you can really strike the ball well with them.

Its impressive by puma, that they've made such a light boot. The shape of puma boots, dont fit on me,  so ill stick to my adizero. But no doubt, this seems like a competive boot.

if puma is so good why didnt they do this before the adizeros came out. they obviously made this really quick and really cheaply because their beloved v1.10 were getting absolutely own by the adizeros

I have these, got them for a lot cheaper than what they will be retailing for and I can tell you that these are retardedly light. They offer a good touch and shot also plus they're really comfortable. They are really well made, definitely not a cheap boot.

Destroy looks for speed!!! That is what I think about it. Too light=bad. Adizero is just the right weight but this.....

I think they are nice boots. A good effort by puma and I think that if they had a nike check on them and not a puma you "critics" would be raving about them. I'm a bit let down by the price though.

Personally I feel Puma have always developed the best speed boots, hell the Puma V1.06 was probably the lightest boot in the field for about 5 years, and is probably still lighter than many boots on the market today, thus players wearing them still today

TERRIBLE:

1) they are ridiculously overpriced for a piece of plastic

2) they probably wont last for over 5 matches (the ferrari said in fine print that they were only tested for 6 matches)

3) they look sloppy and cheap

adizero is better its 5.8 and puma is 5.3 whats the difference

@Robinluis Puma removed everything from the v1.10.  They took off the thermorplastic side the plastic blue lining is fake on these and the heel looks crappy.  I love the v1.10. But light boots don't make you better get that through your head.  I saw a kid with lasers outrun a kid with superflys and the kid with superflys had a 12 yard start.

They look great, specially the colors I love it but looks like the boot is about to breack and that its cheap plastic.

@RealMadridfan07 - i never said these boots make you better. you could pull on a cheap tacky pair of £10 boots from a supermarket and still see a kid run faster than another in superflys. im talking about professionals will find them better, because as nike claimed in their elite series, a lighter boot takes less effort to run in for 90 minutes, therefore allowing them to perform better for longer.

adizeros still trumps these and any other boots out there!! and for who said puma didnt cut corners to make it lighter, the heel area is gutted and the soleplate looks thin and flimsy. plan on buying extra pairs - these will seperate.

Yea and it doesn't. They only do this so that people will buy the boots.  If they are professional players they wouldn't even need good boots to play. This isn't directed towards you Robinluis, but carbon fiber isn't as supportive as people think it is.  My rents worked with carbon fiber for 2 years and its strong and stable when its in form of something but it wasn't made to be a flat surface that bends alot.

At the front these almost look like theyre badly put together.  This may be sorted out by the time they come out though.

I think boots will end up being like a layer of under armour and weighing 10 grams.  But that doesnt make them good, why is it all about lightweight.

As I said with the puma v.185's Nike spend years and lots of money on a boot were as puma seemingly effortlessly rip Nike to shreads with making a cheaper and what more people will think, better boot

I don't understand this war between the lighter soccer shoe, in my opinion 15 or 20 grs don't make any difference, the most important is the comfort and ball feel.

Puma is a striving and great company... you are only looking at people who wear puma football boots and no there arent as many as adidas or nike. Puma have so many different markets they are in and the company is worth at least 5.3 billion euros. puma is a company no doubt.

And as for you people that say this boot looks like a reebok... well reebok's parent company is in fact adidas so if adidas thought reebok was making bad boots they would think puma was making bad boots. but adidas havent said anything bad to reebok likewise to puma.

but think this through. sure they have a name and assests and money, but they are not innovators and they have nothing to offer the market. in the last 6 years they made one decent shoe, the 1.06. it actually used unique materials and geometry.

it's not like i am in love with adidas or nike, and i'm just bashing the little guys. to be fair my favorite mark has always been diadora. my point is only that puma are spilling coin on the featherweight game when they are never going to win anyways.

Puma have made more decent boots than the v1.06.

when superfly was the lightest boot, it was the best, even if it was so expensive and was causing blisters ( at least older versions of vapors)

when adizero was the lightest boot, it was the best. thankfully it is a lot cheaper !

now that puma 1.10 SL is the lightest, it is ugly and a cheap piece of plastic :)

someone even said that adizeros have the right weight and the puma SL is too light. . . The difference is about 0.5 oz. I doubt that anyone can actually feel it.

Football boots are about personal preference. Don't be so biased, its not "black and white" !

We should want strong competition among the different brands because we will benefit from that. Better boots and hopefully lower prices.

Dear Chris, just because they had a bad timing and they did not release the shoe before the WC, it doesn't mean that the shoe is not good :) . Also, maybe Adidas has shorter time to market.

ok im thinking it through... ok     Point 1) OBVIOUSLY THEY ARE INNOVATORS BECAUSE THEY JUST BUILT THE LIGHTEST FOOTBALL SHOE IN THE WORLD                Point 2) they do have many things to offer in the market 1 the lightest football shoes in the world 2 the best track shoes in the world 3 Puma distributes its product to its stores in over 80 countries 4 puma stocks have been rising  particulary has risen to over 24.6% in july of '07 5 puma's main stock holder has been PPR which plans to overtake Puma in near future 6 puma sponsor many indiduals in many sports from around the world 7 pumas share sell for 333 euros 8 pumas market in expensive items has made the difference in the long run of making money.........     Shall i continue? puma can win a featherweight game... and they do have lots to offer the market. Puma today have recently spent a great amount of money trrying to improve africa's football teams... they mainly have been spending a lot of money on Ghana's national team which have made very far through this WC and only lost because of poor sportsmanship player: Uruguay's Suarez.      Puma also sponsoer many other teams... they sponsored italy 4 years ago which won the WC. I do agree with you though that puma do not have as many great players as they did before hand but they still have been a great difference in the world of football and they will continue making the difference.

i know he wore them. that's what i said. and i understand their contribution to the game thus far. but, TO ME, puma was until recently a marque embodied by the rebellion and originality of rudolf dassler. these days i don't see that now. i see them doing everything adidas and nike do, and frankly, they aren't very good at it.

if i could give puma even slice of positive acknowledgement, it is their appreciation of the greats who made them successful in the beginning (pele and eusebio commemoratives, still waiting for a cruijff). i also appreciate their application of a leather version of every shoe.

I think they look great! This Puma v1.10 SL appeals to me much more than Superfly or Adizero but thats my own opinion. :P

I think Puma should make use of the fastest man ever, Usain Bolt, during the advertisng process of these boots. Puma should make Bolt run the whole length of a football pitch and time his sprint; similar to what Nike did with Asafa Powell and Mercurial SL.

Puma may not have as much originality but really who does... every football shoe has the same "heart" if you will. they all will do the same things but some claim to do better than others and some are a personal preference. They are marketed as a speed boot or a power boot but thats only because of different aspects added or taken away from the boot.             originality in football boots only exists in certain kind of boots like Lotto's twist and go and mizuno's ignitus with their panel.        Puma is not really going for originality anyway in my opinion... hence being a public company they hope to make money and then start some serious marketing.                      i also like the way they make leather boots because i only use leather :)

@ jazzovani they look long?? lol havent you seen some boots called superflys? they maki you look duck footed you know... hahaha well i like puma's intention on launching a super lightweight boot but the one problem they have is their syntetic leather matrial looks to delicate they will tear off quickly... besides that at least looks good xD

i would certainly hope that companies could experiment with different goemetries for shoes. this is one thing that i feel adidas has done particularly well with, especiall in the f50 line. it started with a lace cover that extended from the forfoot in the early years (never well executed until then), and now they are changing the sole plate to maximize support and lightness. before soles in the midfoot were flat and flexible, and generally not supportive. but bending the midfoot as they have on the adizero, they add strength without reinforcing with more weight.

nike on the other hand were pioneers in synthetic and composite materials (apart from adding rubber panels to the upper). nikeskin on the mv one was the first well executed synthetic upper, and combined with the development of the fiberglass and pu sole, they essentially created the divisions in the boot market that we see today.

you mentioned lotto's twist n go, which is fantastic. even reebok, which still has some freedom, are working on new things. the heat moldable foam in the instante ii is something new to the football boot market. it's been around in the ski/snowboard boot market for years and it's great, so reebok would do well to extend this feature to all of their top teir shoes (although if its successful, adidas will probably just pick it up).

anyways matt, there some things that different people are doing, its just that i don't see puma doing any of them. i will certainly agree though that it's about personal preference, and personally, i don't prefere weight to "power" or whatever. it's all about fit when i buy boots, but originality and diversity are important too

I understand what you mean but sometimes i believe things are very much overlooked... i believe puma have one of the best technologies out there in a boot...                          The Powercat is marketed having 3D shooting technology. this technology adds those ridges onto the boot. the correct term for these ridges are Springtech foam ridges. Now in all other boots that come to mind there is one material that collides with the ball forcing to go a certain direction. that one material can only generate so much force itself... it relies on your leg strength to smack into the ball.              Puma's new technology in stead of one piece of material colliding it uses a spherical shape... ( this is hard to explain without pictures and physical equations)          The technology instead of making one impact it makes two impacts... the boot strikes the ball and during the strike the 3D techno kicks in... instead of smacking the ball the first impact cushions the ball onto the boot taking a tremendous amount of force away from the ball... now the second impact comes as the foot moves closer to the ball and instead of smacking it, it "pushes" the ball creating much more force then one smack.                                 Think of it this way... if you were punching someone you create one spot on the persons face and it has a great force which makes it hurt. (this would not be using a powercat)      now if you push someone it may not hurt at once but the person will go flying backwards at a much greater force causing them to hurt themself into what ever they hit... the push is just like the powercat... in a push you dont lunge your arms out you instead lightly toss your hands on them then push with all your might... it creates a much greater force......... I will bet you this is the most sophisticated technology ever to be invented in a football boot. If pros would practice with this boot non-stop and learn how to control the physics of this technology... the fastest shot ever will be with a Puma Powercat 1.10

What the f.... 150 g? it can't be good to have so light boots. You can just as well wrap some paper around your foot and glue some studs to the sole...........

these will impress alot of people..

not a fan of all these extremely light boots, theyll just induce more injuries and/or diving. many companies are focusing on outdoing each other with these lightweight boots, and focus less on their tried and true boots. Unlike diadora and umbro, i hope nike doesnt try to respond to these, but inevitibally they will.

Not worth it. The soccer.com description for them says that they run almost a full size small. Therefore you'd have to buy a larger size, and that boot would weigh a little bit more. Not to mention your ankles might get ripped apart by any tackle considering how low they are cut.
