Mesut Ozil caused quite a shock in the boot community this weekend, when he appeared in Real Madrid's most recent pre-season friendly wearing adidas Predator LZ football boots. Although the switch from Nike has come as a surprise, it's not the first time we've seen Ozil sporting the Three Stripes...
If Ozil's switch is official (it's yet to be announced by adidas), then it's quite a coup for adidas in securing another high-profile name to wear the Predator Lethal Zones football boots. A move which once again sees the Predator range move more away from power and accuracy, and into a control and speed category.
The Predator range currently boasts lead assets including Nani, Gerrard, Xavi, Van Persie and Nasri, but after a poor showing at Euro 2012 with the Predator notching just 6 goals compared to the Mercurial's 21, perhaps adidas are looking to add more attacking players to their Predator roster.
Interestingly, this isn't the first time Ozil has worn adidas Predator football boots, as you can see from our picture dated 2006. Ozil began his career wearing the Predator Absolutes and even wore F50's before switching to Nike in 2008, and Ozil has remained a loyal Mercurial wearer ever since.
